STEP BY STEP CONSTRUCTION OF PITZER'S CABIN

Welcome to the progress page on constructing our own log cabin. This is our first log home. We are the general contractor on the job so we have managed the entire process.

We will try to educate you on log home construction while we learn in the process. We should be updating these images monthly as things move along.

If you have any questions along the way please contact us at info@ncloghomes.net.

These our house plans, the Dakota, with an addition of a loft.

Here is an inside picture of the dormer with the T & G boards finished. We are closing the dormer in with OSB.

The dormer is complete and the trusses are being tied into the house. Next is the finish the sheathing and black paper this side.

Here you can see the dormer roof. It is important to make sure your trusses tie back into the house under the dormer.

We have started putting some of the windows into the holes. They are going in very well.

Here is a picture from the road. The roof is finally complete.

Next is to prepare for the roofers. We rented a lift to help put on the soffit and facia.

Here we are installing the facia on the gable front. We are using 2x10 cedar boards. As you can see, it blends in well with the cabin's color.

Another shot attaching the a cover at the gable's top.

We created a neat little cap for each gable. This is the front. It is suppose to be a little house. :-).

Here is a front shot of the house with the facia completed.
