STEP BY STEP CONSTRUCTION OF PITZER'S CABIN

Welcome to the progress page on constructing our own log cabin. This is our first log home. We are the general contractor on the job so we have managed the entire process.

We will try to educate you on log home construction while we learn in the process. We should be updating these images monthly as things move along.

If you have any questions along the way please contact us at info@ncloghomes.net.

These our house plans, the Dakota, with an addition of a loft.

Each side gable has to have slabs of logs covering them. These slabs are half logs and sometimes a quarter of a log. You attach them directly to the OSB with nails..

Here is the porch ceiling tied in.

The logs will lay flush up against the soffit. We used tongue and grove boards for the soffit. It matches the inside ceilings.

Here is a picture of the soffit on the front porch with the air vents. Also you can see the boards we are using for the ceiling of the porch.

The color difference with the light pine and the logs looks really nice.

We boomed up 45 feet and took this picture straight down on the house. It hard me a little nervous. :-)

Then we moved out to the road and took this picture.

The roof is on. It looks great. The crew was there at 9:30am and finished by 2pm. It was unbelievable.

Here is a front shot. We used a shingle called Weather Wood by Landmark. It blends into the trees really nice.
