Welcome to the progress page on constructing our own log
cabin. This is our first log home. We are the general
contractor on the job so we have managed the entire
process.
We will try to educate you on log home
construction while we learn in the process. We
should be updating these images monthly as things move
along.
If you have any
questions along the way please contact us at

These our house plans, the Dakota, with an addition of a loft.
This is looking down from the loft into the living room.
We just built the stairs.
If you have never built stairs before, I suggest you
take the time to read some articles or framing books. It
was not that hard once you got the hang of the
terminology. Don't laugh builders.
This is another picture from the loft looking down at
the area where the fireplace will be placed.
Now I am standing against the fireplace wall looking up
into the loft.
I am standing the in the kitchen area. You can see on
the left the door way into the master bedroom and the
door that will go into the basement.
We selected a one piece tub-shower insert.
Here is a picture of the doorway looking into the second bathroom.
This is the kitchen with the plumbing complete.
The master bathroom will have two pedestal sinks. They are roughed in at
this time.
The well was dug and capped in no time. They told us it was the fastest
well they had ever dug. I am not sure if that is good or
bad. :-)
The weather is getting better as you can tell by this picture. We finished
both gables. With the two sides being standard truss
roofs, we have to use slab or half logs to dress it up.
